“I certainly do not want to think this is a dream. I am a young
Haitian Jacmelian age 26, it is the first time I have through lived such
a horrible event in this city. I would have rather lived through three
floods, it is as if I am in a deep sleep.
I am a young person who has been trained at the Red Cross as an emergency first-aid worker, and the way I am told and explained the situation, I have to conclude this wasn’t an earthquake. Try to imagine all people lying on the ground, at this time, as we speak. Please let me think of this as a dream and when I wake up, everything will be okay.”
