15 January 2010 Student Eyewitness Account: Joel Pierre Louis

“I was afraid, I was afraid. After finishing our short movie, I went to help my friend Bougon because he was shooting in our neighborhood when this terrible catastrophe happened, which has put my city, the city of Jacmel, in mourning. Despite my fears, I went to help friends, people I didn’t even know. We felt powerless, we could have saved more people. The city of Jacmel needs you really badly.”

I don’t know what to say I cry and I pray for all who are affected by the Earth Quake. You are so brave and have so much faith and I know that will carry u through. I know my church will be sending something and I certainly will give.

Your country may be in ruins, but the spirit of unity and courage shown by so many is the good amidst the horror of suffering and death. The world cries for Haiti. Please let your people know that they are not forgotten. God bless you, stay safe.
