Dear All:
We urgently need in Jacmel: an orthopedist, two anesteniologists and a surgeon.
I am safe with my daughter and my staff in Jacmel. Jacmel old city is completely destroyed. We are homeless and living in a camp in a Catholic community with 200 people that have lost more than their houses. We have been blessed.
In the Jacmel region around 2,000 families has been affected leaving around 20,000 people in very bad conditions. For the moment we have an estimate of 150 deaths but some children are still under a shool building. We have set up 4 camps one of them with 4,000 persons.
I am part of the local camps management. We are doing our best to manage the situation in Jacmel with the assistance of the UN and local authorities. But we are still traumatized and are waiting for humanitarian assistance. The earth is still shaking at night.
Early by 5:00 am every morning, for two hours there are like 500 – 600 people on the streets singing religious songs, dancing and blessing God for being alive. It is like a parade, the local way of healing their pain, it is vey impressive. A real therapy for these victims which have lost everything except their Faith.
My phones do not work. My blackberry works once in a while. I will be checking my mail everyday at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Cyvadier Hotel.
Keep on praying for Haiti!
Danielle Saint-Lot

Our prayers are with you. My mom is from Jacmel. This wonderful city will always have a special place in our hearts. I hope to be there as soon as possible.
We are all praying here in America for your help to arrive quickly and for healing to take place physically and emotionally. I am a therapist and agree that the fact your people continue to praise God in this time is therapy and healing. I Praise God for saving those of you that He has and for He will continue to do for all of You!!

My heart and prayers go to the people of Jacmel. I was in your town in Febuary 2008 and I like it and I had plan to come again this year. Please send me more pictures and tell me if you can How many people in Jacmel lost their lives. I live in Tampa Florida.
Thanks Bob Graham
I read about Jacmel’s damage and if I’ve read about you, then certainly everyone else has by now, too, since I am just an ordinary American citizen with a computer. At least one orthopedist friend of mine from Oregon, USA is looking for an agency with whom he may unite and travel to Haiti to assist. I will mention Jacmel to him so that if he has any choice, perhaps he will be able to select your town.
For now, all I can give are my fervent prayers and donations to several charities whom I know will do the most possible good for you in Haiti, somewhere.
God bless the student filmmakers whose courage to cover the local stories in Jacmel are so inspiring!

salut Danielle:

Dear Danielle,
We have heartfelt empathy for the desperate situation in Jacmel. We think the Cine Institute project is an amazing cultural process at the grassroots level. You have our best prayers and wishes.

Wish I could offer you more concrete help. Know that we are with you in spirit and doing what we can. I have forwarded your appeal to Medecins Sans Frontieres. Don’t know if this will help, but I’ll pass it on anyway – BBC World Service is broadcasting to Haiti over the weekend 11860 kHz (25 MB) or 9410 kHz (31 MB). Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Ruth
Dear Danielle,
As the mom of a young student of the arts (writer) I want to say that artists of all kinds are spreading the word of your need. Be strong, believe that kindness will soon be with you, from all sources. Our prayers are with the people of Jacmel.
